Similan Island and Phi Phi Island 09




Our Live aboard MV Daranee & PPSC Speedboat




18 Feb ~ 24 Feb 09





Day 1

Reached Phuket International Airport at 1930hr, however we only clear the immigration one hour later. (Divers - Yee Hsien, Mac, Nanami, Esther, Belle and Raihan)

We board the minivan for Tap Lamu pier. The dive leader for MV Daranee was Esuko. There were a total of ten divers onboard the LOB.

Before the LOB left for Similan Island, the boat crew would hold a simple ceremony at the bow of the boat to pay respect to the sea goddess for fair wind.

The crew onboard MV Daranne prepared a sumptous dinner, knowing that all the divers are hungry.

Day 2

1st dive - Koh Bon West Ridge

2nd dive - Koh Bon West Ridge

3rd dive - Koh Tachai Pinnacl

4rd dive - Koh Tachai Pinnacle

Day 3

1st dive - Richelieu Rock

Day 4

1st dive - North point(Island No.9)

2nd dive - Three tree (Island No.9)

3rd dive -Turtle Head Rock (Island No.8)
4rd dive - Anita's reef

During the surface interval , the boat was mooring at Donald duck bay...Nanami and me went to the island for a swim...

Day 5

1st dive - Elephant Head Rock

2nd dive - East of Eden

During the surface interval, mac was demonstrating the deep water entry from the dining area of the LOB... See below...



The crew onboard MV Daranee...Sa and Top..They were learning the new game "five ten" singapore version.... however the game was played in thai language :)

Day 6

Raihan and Isabelle arrived in Phuket on the 22 Feb and joined us for the Phi Phi Island day trip on the 23 Feb...

1st dive - Koh Bida Nok

2nd dive - Koh Bida Nai

3rd dive - Koh Bida Nai (Shark point)

Our minivan departed Andaman House ard 7.45am for Chalong jetty, however after travelling for about 1 km, the van broke down near Phuket shooting range... We waited for 2o mins for another van to pick us and continue our journey to board speedboat for Phi Phi Island.

Before the speedboat left for Phi Phi Island, dive briefing was conducted by the dive leader, Kung.

Getting ready for lunch after 2nd dive. Speedboat alighted us at Tonsai bay, Phi Phi Island. Lunch at Baan Yin dee Restaurant, Ton Sai bay.

Esther on the surface before descending for the last dive at Phi Phi Island. That is the speedboat we are using for our day trip. 2 x 225 horsepower engine, from Prapaht Sea Sport Club. Me and Kung at Koh Bida Nai..Congratulation!! for his recent successful instructor examination in Kata beach. Birth of another instructor in Phuket...:)

Belle, Raihan and Yee Hsien..By the way, this trip Yee hsien was using a G10 as well as Patima underwater casing ...goes along with ion strobe..you may want to check out his face book for some of the underwater photos he took..:)

Some candid shots taken during the trip, for those who had been onboard MV Daranee during 08, would find that familiar as that is the usual resting area for Mac and YH. Same goes for Nanami...(See pic on below)

Thank to the crew of MV Daranee for the fun and laughter as well as the sumptuous meals prepared during our stay onboard, your thai cuisine was Ah Roi Mak Mak..Captain - Yik, Boat Crew - Top & Man, Chef - Pen & Sao..
